The “Wilder Kaiser” (Wild Emperor) ski region is located one hour east of Innsbruck in the province of Tyrol, and is a jewel for winter holidays. Relatively undiscovered by American skiers, it offers Austrian hospitality in a beautiful Alpine setting. Nine villages are linked with a modern lift network; we’ve chosen two on the northern side of the mountain range that have quality snow conditions later into the ski season. They are Söll and Ellmau, which are typical of the smaller resorts in the Tyrolean region. They offer lots of skiing and plenty of evening activities, to ensure a memorable winter vacation.
The Wilder Kaiser’s “Ski-Welt” encompasses 250 km of slopes, of which 130 km have snow making capabilities. The slopes are accessed by 90+ modern lifts and cable cars, and an efficient grooming system maintains outstanding conditions with ski runs for all abilities. The best part of Ski-Welt is its piste performance system that guides skiers through a vast region on three carefully compiled routes. They are the “Kaiser Circuit”, the “Salve Circuit” and the “Westerndorf Circuit”, and together they make up one of the most beautiful areas the ski world has to offer. Your stamina and ability will dictate whether it takes you a half or full day to complete, and you must allow time to enjoy one of the mountain huts for a drink or a leisurely lunch. By the end of your day, you might want to opt for one of the coffee houses or folklore evenings instead of the many discos! |
